Compassionate care when it matters most

At-home Euthanasia
"Bridge Visit"

The term "euthanasia" is derived from two Greek words, eu meaning "good", and thanatos meaning "death".  So the two words combined translate to "good death".

When you and your veterinarian decide it is time to help your beloved companion find peace, our compassionate doctors can assist in your pet’s passing within the comfort of your home.

Your pet will first receive a gentle sedative to ensure they are relaxed and comfortable. Once they are at ease, a final injection will be administered to complete the euthanasia process with dignity and care.

If desired, we can provide keepsakes such as a fur clipping, ink paw, or nose prints. We also coordinate aftercare services with Gateway Pet Memorial, including transportation and preparation for cremation. Alternatively, you may choose to have your pet remain with you for family-directed aftercare.

Private Cremation

Private cremation offers the opportunity to keep your pet’s cremated remains as a cherished keepsake. Your beloved companion will be the only pet in the cremation chamber, and you will receive only their cremated remains.

Following euthanasia, your pet will be gently carried to our doctor’s vehicle and transported to their home office, where they will be lovingly prepared and arrangements will be made for their care to be transferred to Gateway Pet Memorial.

We provide a complimentary memorial clay paw print and single-line etching or engraving on your selected urn (additional lines are available for an extra fee). Gateway Pet Memorial offers a wide selection of memorial products to honour your pet’s unique personality and the bond you shared.

Your pet’s cremated remains will be returned in your chosen urn, accompanied by a certificate of cremation. Items are typically delivered to your regular veterinary practice within 1–2 weeks. If needed, we’re happy to arrange alternate options, including home delivery (which may incur an additional fee).

Communal Cremation

Communal cremation provides a respectful way to honour your pet’s memory while offering peace of mind and solace. Your pet is gently placed into the crematory alongside other beloved companions, ensuring a dignified process.

While you will not receive your pet’s cremated remains, we are pleased to offer a complimentary memorial clay paw print upon request. This keepsake will be carefully created by the skilled artisans at the crematorium and returned to your regular veterinary practice within 1–2 weeks. If desired, you may also choose to purchase one of Gateway’s personalized clay paw prints. Alternate arrangements, including home delivery, can be made (a delivery fee may apply).

A representative sample of the cremated remains from each communal cremation is respectfully interred in the ossuary at Sandy Ridge Pet Cemetery in Eden, ON. You are always welcome to visit this peaceful resting place to reflect and remember your pet.

Angel Care Transportation

Our Angel Care Transportation service provides compassionate support for families following the loss of their beloved pet. We travel to your home to pick up and transport your pet when they have passed away at home.

The service includes:

  • Travel and confirmation of passing

  • A grief resource package

  • Complimentary ink paw prints, ink nose prints, and a fur clipping (if desired)

  • Notification sent to your regular veterinary practice

Your pet will be respectfully transported to our home office, where we will coordinate the transfer of care to Gateway Pet Memorial for cremation services (aftercare fees are additional).

This service is designed to ease the logistical and emotional burden during a difficult time, allowing you to focus on your memories and healing.

For Peace of Mind

Preparing in advance helps families feel more at ease and allows us to be as prepared as possible to assist when the time comes.

While it doesn’t guarantee availability at a specific moment, pre-planning helps us better coordinate to provide care when you need it most.

There’s no obligation—just a thoughtful step toward readiness.

We strive to accommodate appointment requests with 2–3 days' notice.
Next-day or same-day appointments may be available during business hours, but may be limited.

Please note: We are closed on weekends and will respond to inquiries received outside of business hours as soon as possible during the next business day.
