About Greenwood Veterinary House Call Services

Greenwood Veterinary House Call Services is dedicated to supporting pets and their families during life’s most tender and challenging moments. Our practice is focused exclusively on end-of-life and palliative care, offering at-home euthanasia, telemedicine consultations for palliative and quality-of-life assessments, and expert guidance on cannabinoid therapy.

By limiting our services to these focused areas, we ensure that every pet receives the dedicated attention and compassionate care they deserve, all while remaining in the comfort of their home.

How Are We Different?

At Greenwood Veterinary House Call Services, we bring a uniquely compassionate and comprehensive approach to supporting pets and their families during life’s most delicate moments.

We specialize in caring for senior and terminally ill pets, ensuring they receive personalized, dignified attention at every stage. From guidance with quality-of-life decisions to in-home end-of-life care, we focus on making this journey as peaceful as possible.

With nearly 25 years of combined experience providing in-home veterinary care, our team has the expertise and dedication to guide you and your pet through every step of this journey. Dr. Sarah, who founded Durham Region’s first full-time house-call practice in 2003, and Dr. Ruthanne, who joined our team in 2021, are passionate about providing exceptional care rooted in compassion and understanding.

Our holistic and integrated medicine approach sets us apart. In addition to traditional veterinary care, we consider complementary therapies like acupuncture, nutritional counselling, and our nationally recognized expertise in cannabis-based therapies, providing innovative solutions for pain management, anxiety, and more.

As an independently owned, women-operated practice, we are proud to prioritize compassion over corporate agendas. Our roots are in the community, and our focus is on building trust and partnerships that honour the unbreakable bond between pets and their families.

Whether you need support during your pet's aging process, palliative care, or a peaceful farewell, we’re here for you—with the knowledge, empathy, and care to guide you every step of the way.

Plan Ahead

For Peace of Mind

Preparing in advance helps families feel more at ease and allows us to be as prepared as possible to assist when the time comes.

While it doesn’t guarantee availability at a specific moment, pre-planning helps us better coordinate to provide care when you need it most.

There’s no obligation—just a thoughtful step toward readiness.

We strive to accommodate appointment requests with 2–3 days' notice.
Next-day or same-day appointments may be available during business hours, but may be limited.

Please note: We are closed on weekends and will respond to inquiries received outside of business hours as soon as possible during the next business day.

For urgent matters, please call our office at 289-987-7297 to speak with us during business hours. If you require emergency services, please contact your local Veterinary Emergency Clinic
